How a veterinary hospital launches a Hero Fund, how the money moves, and who decides.

A participating veterinary hospital builds a local Hero Fund through community crowdfunding with Cherish Pet Angel Network. When a case comes in that a family can't afford, the hospital's clinical team makes the medical decision and identifies the case. We release the funds. The hospital stays the hero in its own community — we're the infrastructure behind it.

Funds are released
Paid to the hospital and applied to that patient's care.
Every dollar has a job
Gifts made through a hospital's Hero Fund page are restricted to that hospital's fund. General, unrestricted gifts do the rest of the mission as resources allow:
- Subsidize a Hero Fund when a case runs beyond what that hospital has raised.
- Crisis support that keeps a family from having to surrender a pet after disaster or hardship.
- Aftercare — a $650 grant for a dignified goodbye when a pet passes.
Funds are paid directly to a veterinary hospital or aftercare provider. We do not distribute funds to individuals.
Questions We Hear
Who decides which cases qualify?
The veterinary team does. Cherish Pet Angel Network never makes medical decisions — the hospital identifies the case and submits it for funding review.
Does it cost anything to partner?
No. There is no cost for a veterinary hospital to launch a Hero Fund.
Can a family apply directly?
Families can reach out, and we'll coordinate with their veterinary hospital. If that hospital isn't a member yet, we'll contact them to try to make arrangements, as funds allow.
What if the case exceeds the hospital's balance?
General, unrestricted gifts can subsidize a hospital's Hero Fund, as resources allow.
