Cherish Pet Angel Network is a compassionate initiative born from the deep emotional toll we’ve witnessed among pet owners facing the heartbreaking reality of saying goodbye to their beloved companions or struggling to afford critical medical care. For years, we’ve self-funded assistance where we could, pledging 2% of our cremation revenue and larger contributions from our e-commerce product lines. Yet, the growing need for support continues to surpass our resources.
As we work toward establishing our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, Cherish Pet Angel Network is committed to providing aid to those in need. Our mission is to assist with euthanasia and afterlife care, crisis medical care, and sheltering pets as funds allow. We are especially honored to cover afterlife expenses for military and working dogs, recognizing their invaluable service. In the past 18 months alone, requests for assistance have doubled, underscoring the urgent need for community support.
The U.S. pet industry continues to grow, with 94 million households now owning pets, up from 82 million in 2023. 51% of households own dogs (68 million), while 37% own cats (49 million). Gen Z is leading the charge in multi-pet homes, with a 43.5% increase in pet ownership among this group, now making up 20% of all pet owners. Notably, 70% of Gen Z pet owners have two or more pets, and male pet ownership has surged, particularly in cat ownership among Gen Z and Millennials.
"The pet industry remains strong, and ownership is expanding rapidly, especially among younger generations," said APPA President & CEO Pete Scott. "The bond between people and pets is deeper than ever, and Gen Z is redefining what modern pet ownership looks like."
Despite this growth, affordability and access to care remain significant challenges. 37% of pet owners worry about access to veterinary care, and 60% cite affordability as a major concern. Additionally, 22% of pet owners express concerns about general pet care services, highlighting the need for organizations like Cherish Pet Angel Network to step in and provide support.
The pet industry’s resilience is evident, with spending reaching $152 billion in 2024 and projected to hit $157 billion in 2025. However, the rising costs of care and services leave many pet owners struggling to meet their pets’ needs. At Cherish Pet Angel Network, we believe no pet owner should have to choose between financial hardship and the well-being of their cherished companion.
By donating to Cherish Pet Angel Network, you can help us lift up and care for our community, ensuring that every pet and pet owner receives the dignity, love, and support they deserve. Together, we can make a difference—one paw at a time.
