Frequently asked questions.

How the Hero Fund works, who it helps, and how funds reach clinics. If your question isn’t here, we’re a message away.

What is the Hero Fund?

The Hero Fund is our program that helps families afford treatable veterinary care so a pet isn't lost over cost alone. Approved funds are released directly to the treating veterinary clinic.

Who does the money go to?

Funds always go directly to the veterinary clinic providing care — never to individuals. This keeps every dollar tied to treatment and keeps the program accountable.

Who is eligible for help?

Eligibility centers on a treatable condition with a strong prognosis for recovery and a good quality of life, where the barrier to care is cost. The treating veterinarian makes all medical decisions.

How do I apply for help?

Use the Application for Help page to start a case. Families and clinics can both submit. Share the pet's situation, the clinic, and the estimated cost, and we'll coordinate directly with the clinic.

How fast are funds released?

When a case is approved, funds are typically released to the treating hospital within a few business days, so care isn't delayed while a family waits for reimbursement.

Does my clinic have to be a member?

Care is provided by a licensed veterinary clinic. If your clinic isn't a member yet, we'll reach out to them — funds are paid to the clinic directly once a case is approved.

How is this different from pet insurance?

Insurance usually reimburses you after you've paid. The Hero Fund works upstream — it helps cover treatable care at the moment of crisis, with money going straight to the clinic.

How can I support the Network?

You can invest in the Hero Fund, become a sponsor, or volunteer. Investments build a clinic's Hero Fund balance so it's ready the moment a family needs it.

Are contributions tax-deductible?

Cherish Pet Angel Network is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 77-091224028). Contributions may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; consult your tax advisor.
